Description
Painton's Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse located on Netherton Lane in Fyfield and Tubney. The front range features a datestone marked 'JP 1819' and is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with brick quoins and dressings, topped by a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building is L-shaped with a rear right wing and stands two storeys tall, comprising a two-window range. It has console brackets supporting a flat hood over a six-panelled door that includes a Regency overlight. The windows are adorned with cambered brick arches and keystones, featuring eight-pane sashes, and a six-pane sash above the door in the right bay. There is also a similar early 19th-century sash window in the right gable wall. The mid-18th century rear wing is two storeys high with a four-window range, made from similar materials and includes brick gable end stacks. The right side wall of this wing has timber lintels over 19th-century casements, two blocked windows, and a blocked door flanked by buttresses. Inside, the farmhouse has panelled doors and shutters, while the hall features an early 19th-century staircase with stick balusters. The rear wing is noted for its chamfered beams.
