Description

Crossways is a house that dates from the 17th century, with a mid to late 18th century wing on the left. The building is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble, while the later right bay is made of coursed limestone rubble. It features a half-hipped thatch roof, with a 19th century brick stack at one end and a stone lateral stack on the right. The house has been extended from a two-unit to a three-unit plan and consists of one storey and an attic, with a three-window range. There are timber lintels above a 20th century plank door and 19th century casement windows, along with a 19th century three-light dormer casement.

The mid to late 18th century wing projects forward from the left bay and is built of coursed limestone rubble with brick quoins and dressings. This section has a hipped and gabled stone slate roof and features brick lateral stacks at the rear. It is two storeys high with a two-window range. A segmental brick arch is present above a 20th century door with a porch, and there are 19th century two- and three-light casements, as well as a blocked door to the right. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
