Description
Two cottages, dating from the 18th century, with a later extension to the right. They are built of coursed limestone rubble, with more dressed blocks on the right-hand side. The roofs are thatched, with a brick ridge and stacks at the left end. The cottages originally comprised one-unit dwellings, now with one storey and attic, and a four-window front. Timber lintels cover the 20th-century doors; a stone porch was added in 1985 to the left, and a 20th-century timber porch to the right. The windows are 19th-century two-light casements and one-light windows, with timber lintels. There are two-light half-dormer casements in the attic. Inside No.26 are chamfered joists, an old plank door leading to a quarter-turn staircase, and a two-bay roof with a closed truss and willow rafters lashed with twine. The interior of No.25 was not inspected.
