Description
This is an almshouse dated 1837, located approximately 40 meters west of the Church of Saint Michael in Blewbury. It is constructed of red brick with random flared bricks in Flemish bond and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick end stack on the right. The building is two stories high and has a two-window range. The outer door is a 20th-century plank double-leaf door leading to a 20th-century gabled porch, with a plank inner door. On the right side, there is a 20th-century two-light casement window with a segmental brick head, and on the first floor, there is a two-light casement window to the right and a single-light casement window to the left. A stone panel on the first floor center reads, "The ground on which this house is erected and the garden adjoining was kindly given for the use of Bacon's Charity by John Shawe Philips of Culham, Oxon in the year 1837." The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
