Description

Hall Barn is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with a late 17th-century front added to the main range. The building features large timber framing in the cross-wing, with rendered infill, while the main range is constructed of painted brick. It has an old plain-tile roof, with a brick end stack on the left and another at the end of the cross-wing, as well as a ridge stack on the cross-wing. The house is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window main range and a two-storey, two-bay single-window cross-wing to the right.

To the right of the main range, there is a six-panel part-glazed door framed with wood architrave. The main range displays Doric giant-order cut-brick pilasters at both ends and on either side of the center, with the left-center pilaster interrupted by a four-light wood mullion and transom window on the ground floor. There is a blocked window opening on the ground floor to the left, featuring a flat brick arch with a shaped lower edge. A shaped brick band runs between the ground and first floors on the left and center. The first floor has wood cross-windows with leaded lights, and the left window has a flat brick arch with a shaped lower edge. A painted wood dentil cornice decorates the eaves, and there is a gabled full dormer at the center with a wood cross-window that also has leaded lights.

On the left return of the cross-wing, there is a three-light wood mullion and transom window on the ground floor and a four-light casement window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
