Description
This is an early 19th century building in Great Faringdon Market Place, with a cement-rendered front applied to an earlier structure. It is three stories high, with a low-pitched slate roof. Incised quoins are visible on the north side. The building has a three-window front, with the window bays irregularly spaced, and the upper windows on the north side raised. The windows have plain raised surrounds and are sash windows with glazing bars. The central window on the second floor is blank. On the ground floor north side, there is a large three-sided bay window, matching those on the adjacent building, No. 6. The main entrance has a six-panel door, and the south side features an earlier 19th century shopfront with a fascia and moulded cornice that extends across the door to a single curved bracket on a panelled pilaster. Inside, the ground floor shop has 16th century moulded centre beams. An alcove niche with a shell head is located in the north side front room.
