Description
Fairlawn Wharf Buildings, located to the rear of numbers 44 and 46 East St Helen Street, are possibly of 17th century origin. The building features a riverside frontage that is two storeys high, constructed of chequered brick with a tile roof and five modern skylights. The first floor has irregular modern windows, and there is a brick band between the storeys. The ground floor includes modern boat entries and windows with segmental arches, set above a rubble plinth. The courtyard elevation consists of two and one storeys, with two wings at right angles, which date from the 17th century and later. Part of the building is rendered, and it has tile roofs. One section features a diagonal-set brick eaves cornice. The fenestration is mainly modern. The interior is reported to contain an interesting roof construction with doubled principals.
