Description
Beech Cottage and Porch Cottage is a house that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the mid-17th century, with an 18th-century front and 19th-century additions to the rear. The building is constructed of red brick featuring flared headers in Flemish bond and has an old plain-tile roof with a central brick ridge stack. The layout follows a two-unit lobby entry plan and is two stories high with a two-window range. The central entrance has a 20th-century six-panel door leading to a 19th-century gabled porch. On either side of the porch, there are three-light wood casements with segmental brick heads, and the first floor also features three-light wood casements on both sides. A dentil course runs along the eaves. The left side of the building shows timber framing with brick infill, while the gable end has banded tile-hanging. The right side has timber framing with 20th-century brick infill and a Queen post roof truss at the gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
