Description

This is a row of six houses, numbered 18 to 32, located on Gravel Hill. They date to the earlier 19th century. The houses are constructed of red brick, with numbers 18, 30, and 32 subsequently painted. They have slate roofs which step up the hillside. Each house has two storeys and two windows, featuring early 19th-century casement windows with glazing bars.

The houses form part of a group, along with numbers 5 to 19 (odd), the Old School and Main Buildings of the South Oxfordshire Technical College, numbers 43 to 49 (odd), and the wall and gate piers previously belonging to Paradise House. They also relate to Ancastle Cottage (numbers 2 to 36, even), the pavement surface in front of those numbers, the entrance walls, piers, and gates of Ancastle Cottage, and the lower lodge of Friar Park. A raised pavement and wall are also part of this same group.
