Description
April Cottage is a 17th century cottage, likely timber framed, with a roughcast facade and an old tiled roof that is half hipped at the upper end, while the lower end adjoins the next building. The cottage has brick chimneys at the center and both sides, stands 1 and a half storeys tall, and features six bays. The upper floor includes three gabled dormers, while the lower floor has five windows and two doors, all of which are leaded casements. Three of the lower windows have shutters. At the rear, there is a long, single storey outshut.
The raised pavement and wall are part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 19 (odd), the South Oxfordshire Technical College Old School and Main Buildings, Nos 43 to 49 (odd), and the wall and gate piers to the former Paradise House. Ancastle Cottage, along with Nos 2 to 36 (even) and the pavement surface in front of these properties, also forms a group with the entrance walls, piers, gates, and the lower lodge of Friar Park.
