Description

This is a late 17th and early 18th century house located on The Hill in Garsington. The house is built of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and timber framing with brick infill, and it has a thatched roof with brick gable stacks. It follows a three-unit plan, with one storey and attics. The front has a plank door flanked by a three-light and a two-light casement window, all under wood lintels, with a 20th-century casement window in between. Two half-dormers are visible in the roof. The roof on the left is half-hipped over a timber-framed gable. The right gable features ashlar quoins, remnants of a gable parapet including one kneeler, and a small projection housing a shallow oven that extends onto the rear wall, with a stone weathering. Inside, the original floor structure and staircase remain, along with a three-bay roof with a single purlin and straight wind braces. The house was originally divided into separate rooms.
