Description
No. 2 The Hill is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with squared dressings and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall. The front has a regular three-window arrangement, with the original pattern of three-light casements flanking a single light on the first floor, all with dressed surrounds. The ground floor has a similar arrangement that has been altered, and a door with a timber lintel has been inserted to the left of centre. On the extreme right, there is a blocked doorway with a dressed surround. All the casements are from the 20th century. The stone eaves cove adds to the building's character. Inside, there are some timber-framed partitions and a large open fireplace with a smoking chamber in the chimney, complete with hooks for five carcasses.
