Description

Barn House is an open shed with a loft above, now converted into dwellings. It likely dates from the early 18th century. The structure is built from limestone rubble and timber-framing with brick infill, topped by an old plain-tile roof. It has a three-bay plan, with the front being timber-framed and the open ground floor now filled in with rubble. The right gable wall is weatherboarded, while the left gable and rear wall are made of rubble featuring a brick dentil eaves-course. The building has 20th-century inserted casements and dormers. Inside, the original floor structure and trusses with clasped purlins remain, and the right truss is framed as a partition. Barn House is part of Manor Farm (Northend Manor) and is included for its group value.
