Description
The Thatched Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill set on a low stone plinth, featuring a brick gable-stack on a stone base and a thatched roof. The cottage has two unequal bays and includes a 20th-century extension on the left side. It is one storey plus attics, with a roof pitch reduced below the purlin to accommodate windows. The entrance consists of a combined doorway and a two-light casement window in the narrow bay on the right, with two-light casements above. The rear framing and roof remain unaltered, while the right-hand wall is constructed of brick with timber-framing in the gable. Inside, there is a winder stair beside the fireplace, and the spine beam is supported on a jowled post in the chimney breast.
