Description

This is an early 17th century house, with later alterations. It is constructed from limestone rubble and timber framing with brick infill, and has a thatched roof with brick ridge stacks set on a stone base. The house originally comprised two units. The lower unit, on the left-hand side of the stacks, features a renewed casement window. A single-light stair window is present, along with a rear bread-oven projection aligned with the stacks. A 20th-century stone and tiled porch has been added to the left gable wall. The right gable is timber-framed with brick infill, incorporating a panel of herring-bone brickwork, some flared brick banding, and a small 20th-century weather-boarded extension. Internally, the upper end of the house contains a moulded stone Tudor-arched fireplace reminiscent of those found in the Manor House, and it is believed that another similar fireplace exists on the first floor.
