Description

The house at Home Close dates to the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has an old plain tile roof with brick gable stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape and has two storeys plus attics. The front of the house, which has three windows, is symmetrical. A six-panelled door is centrally positioned and has a two-light casement window above it. Flanking the door are three further two-light casement windows. The roof has three hipped dormers. All windows have leaded lights. Further details to the exterior include a plinth, ashlar quoins, a flush storey band, a stone eaves cove, and roll mouldings to the sides and heads of the window openings. The rear wing has two windows and is flush with the left gable. The right gable features a segmental-arched window above a two-light stone mullioned cellar window. The interior includes two open fireplaces, a late 18th century fireplace, an upper flight of the 18th century back staircase, and timber-framed partitions.
