Description
31 and 33 Friday Street are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building features a brick facade, with No 31 painted white and No 33 constructed of red brick with grey headers, along with red brick window and door dressings. The cottages have a low pitched slate roof topped by a large central chimney. They are two storeys high and each has two windows, which are set in segmental arches with cambered head linings. The windows are early 19th century casements, although the first floor of No 33 has sliding casements. Both doors are adorned with small flat hoods supported by brackets. The cottages are listed for their group value, as they are part of a larger collection of buildings that includes Nos 5 to 35 (odd), 45 to 65 (odd) Old Timbers, Friday Cottage, and No 73, in association with Nos 4 and 6, No 10, Nos 14, 14A and 16, Nos 54 and 56, The Anchor Hotel, and Baltic Cottage opposite with Baltic House Thameside.
