Description

These are two late 18th or early 19th century buildings on Friday Street. They have a stucco facade with a brick cornice at the eaves and a decorative band running along the sill line of the first floor. The roof is low-pitched and covered in slate. Each building has two windows on each floor, all with segmental arch heads and cambered head linings to the window frames. Number 51 has reproduction leaded glazing, while number 53 has original early 19th century casement windows. The doors have been altered. The buildings are included on the Grade II list for their group value with other properties in the area, including numbers 5 to 35 (odd), 45 to 65 (odd), Old Timbers, Friday Cottage, number 73, numbers 4 and 6, number 10, numbers 14, 14A and 16, numbers 54 and 56, The Anchor Hotel, Baltic Cottage, and Baltic House.
