Description
The Anchor Hotel is a building dating from the 19th century, with a stucco facade applied to what was likely an earlier timber-framed house. It has an old tiled roof, half-hipped in shape, with a central chimney. The hotel is two storeys high and has two windows on the upper floor, set under a gable with a decorated tympanum. A two-storey bay window extends from the western end, also under a half-hipped gable. Modern glazing is present. A dripstone mould covers the eastern part of the ground floor. The main entrance has two doors with engraved glass panels, and a 19th-century, three-light casement window is also visible. The Anchor Hotel is part of a group which includes numbers 5 to 35 (odd), and 45 to 65 (odd) Old Timbers and Friday Cottage, number 73, and numbers 4 and 6, number 10, numbers 14, 14A and 16, numbers 54 and 56, Baltic Cottage opposite, and Baltic House Thameside.
