Description
Queen Anne Cottage, located at No 45 on Friday Street, is an early 18th-century building. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and features a moulded brick string at the first-floor level, along with projecting aprons above the first-floor windows. The cottage has a coved plaster cornice and a double-span roof covered with old tiles. The facade is symmetrical and consists of two storeys with five windows, all of which are sash windows with glazing bars and moulded flush architraves. The central door is framed by a wooden arched surround and topped with a moulded pediment. It is said that this cottage was once a tanner's house for the tannery located at the adjoining No 47. Queen Anne Cottage is part of a group of buildings that includes Nos 5 to 35 (odd), and 45 to 65 (odd) Old Timbers, Friday Cottage, and No 73, which are associated with several other nearby properties.
