Description

This building comprises numbers 47 and 47A Duke Street. It dates from the early and later 18th century, with a stucco facade added in the 19th century. It has a steeply pitched roof covered in old tiles. The building is two storeys high, with dormers, and has five windows in total. The first-floor windows are recessed sash windows with glazing bars, except for the northern window, which is a canted oriel on a stuccoed plinth. The ground floor features three shop fronts added in the early 20th century.

The Dukes Head Public House forms a group with numbers 43 to 47 (odd), 47A, and 49, along with number 30, The Queens Head Public House, opposite, and numbers 2 and 4 Reading Road and numbers 1 to 7 (odd) Greys Road.
