Description
Lower Town Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a house, with a front range built in 1771, as indicated by the brickwork. The building features a limestone uncoursed rubble plinth and red brick with flared headers in Flemish bond, topped by an old plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range. The entrance is a sash door located in the center of a gabled brick porch. All openings have three-light wood casements with segmental brick heads, except for a two-light wood casement with a segmental brick head at the center of the first floor. There is a flat brick band between the ground and first floors and two gabled dormers.
At the rear, there is a 17th-century cross-wing made of large timber framing with brick infill, also with an old plain-tile roof. This section is single storey with an attic and has a four-window range. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the end of the cross-wing is a barn constructed from timber framing with weatherboarding and an old plain-tile roof.
