Description
Peebles Farmhouse and attached barn is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the late 17th century, with a 19th-century extension. The building is constructed of rendered brick and features a plain tile roof with brick stacks. It has a two-unit baffle-entry layout, extended to the right, and is two stories high with four windows across the front. There is a plank door located to the right of center, three-light casements on the ground floor (except for a two-light casement to the left of center), and three-light casements on the first floor. Above the two-light casement on the ground floor, there is a blind panel with a fire insurance plaque. The eaves are molded brick, and there is a brick ridge and end stack on the right side. Inside, there are blocked surviving fireplaces on the ground floor, and a beam dated 1698 can be found in the left room on the ground floor.
The attached barn is probably from the early 18th century, featuring a brick and flint base with timber frame weatherboarding and a tile roof. It consists of five bays and likely has 19th-century projecting entrances on both the north and south sides. Inside, the barn has jowled wall posts and a queen-post roof.
