Description

Numbers 1-3 Box Cottages are probably a former farmhouse, later converted into three dwellings. The building dates from the mid-18th century, with a brick inscription indicating 1797 on the right side of the central doorway. The construction incorporates a painted flint plinth with brick dressings on the right side and a painted brick plinth on the left. The roof is covered in old plain tiles, with a brick end stack to the left, and ridge stacks in the centre and to the right. The building is two storeys with an attic, and has a five-window front. There are plank doors located to the left, right of centre, and to the right. The windows are mostly 2-light casements. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors on the right side, and a dentil course features at the eaves. Two gabled full dormers are present to the left. The interiors remain uninspected.
