Description

Newnham Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features a flint base and painted brick walls, topped with a plain tile roof and a brick stack at the right end. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range.

The central feature is a two-storey porch that has an ogee archway and a double part-glazed four-panel door. To the left, there is a 19th-century flat-sided bay window, while to the right of the centre, there is a three-light 20th-century casement window, and a single light 20th-century casement to the far right. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors. On the first floor to the left, there is a 19th-century gabled hall-dormer, with a two-light casement window in the porch and another two-light casement window to the right. The eaves are shaped brick, and there is a gabled full dormer to the right.

At the rear, the farmhouse has casement windows with segmental brick surrounds and projecting keystones that connect to a flat band. The interior has not been inspected. There is a subsidiary 19th-century wing to the right, which is two storeys high with a one-window range. It features a plank door with a shaped hood and a horizontal sliding sash window on the first floor, and the roof has a parapet.
