Description

Oxford Gate, located approximately 400 metres northwest of Shotover Park, consists of gatepiers, gates, and railings from the 18th century, which were remodelled in the 19th century. The structure is made of limestone ashlar and cast iron. The rusticated piers feature a central break followed by a cornice. The main piers are topped with stone urn finials, while two secondary piers have ball finials. The piers are connected by 19th-century cast-iron gates and railings, with additional railings that sweep outwards from the secondary piers to lower outer piers that do not have finials.
