Description
Nuneham Courtenay Oxford Lodge is a gate lodge built in the late 18th century, with probable extensions from the late 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed limestone ashlar and brick, topped with a Welsh-slate roof featuring stone stacks. The building has a T-plan layout and is a single storey. The central range projects and is topped with a pediment, supported by two Greek Doric columns in antis, and features a recessed glazed doorway with an architrave. The main entablature extends to the sides, where each side has a 12-pane sash window with an architrave, flanked by pilasters. The roof slopes continue over the wider rear section, which also has two similar sash windows flanking the central range. The side and rear walls are made of brick, likely added later. The interior has not been inspected. This lodge served as the principal entrance to Nuneham Park, which is listed as Grade I in the HBMC County Register of Gardens.
