Description
These are two cottages that were originally one house, built in the mid-18th century. They are constructed of brick in Flemish bond and have an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with end outshuts and is two storeys high plus an attic. The front is symmetrical with three windows and features a stepped plinth, a storey band, and a dentil eaves course. There is a central plank door flanked by enlarged 19th-century three-light casements, all of which have segmental arches. On the first floor, there are two-light casements on either side of a central blind window. The outshuts are slightly recessed and have segmental-arched two-light casements. The hipped roof includes two gabled roof dormers and two tall stacks at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. This building marks the southern end of the village street and faces Nos. 38, 39, and 40, which were likely once identical to this house. It is part of the estate village built around 1760 by the 1st Earl Harcourt.
