Description

A pair of cottages located on the A423, dating from the mid-18th century with extensions added in the mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, with some flared brick headers. They have a roof of old plain tiles and a brick stack. Each cottage has a two-unit plan and extends to the rear. They are one storey high plus an attic. The front facades, which are in chequer bond, feature a dentil eaves course and segmental arches over two-light plank-shuttered casement windows. Each facade has a central doorway with a plank door. Two gabled dormers are present on each cottage, and they share a central brick stack. The end walls have been rebuilt. Central rear extensions have been added. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are part of an estate village built around 1760 by the 1st Earl Harcourt.
