Description
This is a house, now used as a house and shop, dating from the early 18th century, with a shop front added in the early 20th century. The ground floor is built of ashlar stone, while the upper floors are grey brick with red brick detailing. The roof is of old plain tiles, and there’s a brick end stack to the left. The front of the building faces the High Street. It is three storeys high, with a three-window front. The ground floor has an early 20th-century shop front featuring plate glass windows flanked by stone Doric columns and double-glazed doors on the left. A stone cornice separates the ground and first floors. The first floor has three 12-pane sash windows with segmental brick heads and keystones. A flat stone band marks the division between the first and second floors. The second floor mirrors the first, with three 9-pane sash windows, similarly detailed with segmental brick heads and keystones. A stone cornice and brick parapet sits along the eaves. The corner of the building angles out, with double-glazed doors on the ground floor and a 12-pane sash window with a segmental brick head and keystone on the first floor, and a 9-pane sash window with a segmental brick head and keystone on the second floor. The right return has a 20th-century shop front on the ground floor, and two 12-pane sash windows with segmental brick heads and keystones on the first floor; two blind panels are present on the second floor. The interior has not been inspected.
