Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a small house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later 20th-century additions. The house is constructed of banded clunch rubble and flint with brick dressings, and has an old plain-tile roof with brick stacks. Originally a two-unit plan, it now has one storey plus attics. The front elevation features a central doorway, now a window with a segmental arch, a sash window to the left with a segmental arch, and a large 20th-century bay window to the right. A ridge stack is positioned in line with the doorway, and another stack is present on the right gable. The gables have 19th-century ornamental barge boards, as does the rear dormer. The rear incorporates a substantial range of former farm buildings. The interior has not been inspected, but the house likely originally had a lobby entry. It is included on the listing for group value with nearby properties.
