Description

Nos. 19 and 20 on the A423 are a pair of cottages built in the mid-18th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. They are constructed of brick in Flemish bond and feature a plain-tile roof with brick stacks. Each cottage has a two-window front, with a plinth and a dentil eaves course. The front includes a central doorway flanked by two-light plank-shuttered casements, all of which have segmental arches. The doorway of No. 20, located on the right, has been built up to serve as a third casement. Both cottages have two gabled dormers and share a large central stack, with higher extensions at the rear. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are part of the estate village that was built around 1760 for the 1st Earl Harcourt.
