Description
25 and 26 A423 are a pair of cottages built in the mid 18th century. They are constructed of brick in Flemish bond with some flared headers, and feature timber framing with brick infill. The cottages have an old plain-tile roof with a brick stack and are designed with two-unit plans, consisting of one storey plus an attic.
The front of each cottage has two windows arranged in a chequer brick pattern, with a dentil eaves course and segmental arches. They have two-light plank-shuttered casements on either side of central windows that have replaced former doorways. All windows now have 20th-century metal casements. Each cottage features two gabled dormers and they share a central stack. The gables are timber framed. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are part of the estate village built around 1760 for the 1st Earl Harcourt.
