Description
A pair of cottages dating from the mid-18th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. The cottages are built of brick in Flemish bond, with some flared headers, and feature timber framing with brick infill. They have a plain-tile roof and brick stacks. The plan consists of two units per cottage, with extensions to the rear. The cottages are one storey high with an attic. The frontages each have two windows, with a central doorway between two-light plank-shuttered casements, all beneath segmental arches. The plinth is rendered, and there is a brick dentil eaves course. The doorway of No. 15 (on the left) has been built up. Each cottage has two gabled dormers and they share a central stack. The gables are timber-framed. No. 16 has been extended to the rear in a similar style, with a single-storey range extending beyond this rear wing. Interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are part of an estate village built around 1760 for the 1st Earl Harcourt.
