Description

This milestone, located approximately 800 meters southeast of the junction with the A329 in Shillingford, dates from the 18th or early 19th century. It is made of limestone and features a tall, slightly tapering shape with an oval plan and a rounded top. The stone is inscribed with the words "HENLEY/12/OXFORD/2," although the inscription is barely legible. The road where this milestone stands was turnpiked in 1736.
