Description
The building known as Rectory Cottages and Church Rooms, now divided into two dwellings and a house that was formerly a school, dates from the mid-17th century. It features a rendered plinth, large timber framing, rendered infill, and a thatched roof with brick ridge stacks located to the left and right of the center. The structure is two stories high and has a three-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street.
To the left of center, there is a six-panel door topped by a 19th-century gabled hood with an old plain-tile roof. On the ground floor, there are two-light wood casements to the left and right of the center, and a three-light wood casement to the right. The first floor has two-light leaded wood casements to the left and right, and a three-light leaded wood casement in the center. The interior has not been inspected.
At the rear, there is a mid-19th century school room, which is likely the first recorded work of Charles Buckeridge. This section has a brick base, false timber framing with rendered infill, and a plain-tile roof topped with a pyramidal-roof bell-cote.
