SP 5902 CUDDESDON AND DENTON DENTON 9/16 Appletree Cottage

GV II

House. Early C17 and later. Limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and brick dressings; thatched roof with brick ridge-stacks. 3-unit lobby-entrance plan extended in C20. One storey plus attics. Street front has three C18 3-light casements with brick quoins under chamfered timber lintels and two 3-light dormers aver. Brick extension to left. Entrance at rear. Interior: Large stack with open inglenook fireplace and bread-oven. Broad joists to left bay and chamfered and stopped joists to centre with timber-framed partition under queen-post truss. Roof has single row of clasped purlins with some exposed curved wind-braces. Internal gable truss to right. Possibly originally a timber-framed structure.
