Description

Hampden Monument is a commemorative structure erected in 1843 to honor John Hampden. It is made of limestone and features an obelisk set on a square base. The base includes a roundel with a relief profile of Hampden, as well as panels listing the donors who contributed to the monument. John Hampden was killed at the battle of Chalgrove Field in 1643.
