Description
Hardwick House Stables, located approximately 20 meters west of Hardwick House, were built in 1724, as indicated by a wind-vane. The stables have undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed from flint with brick dressings, and the central section features 20th-century weatherboarding and a recent plain tile roof. The building has a central portion that is one storey high with an attic, topped by a cross-gabled roof, and has single-storey wings on both the left and right sides, each with hipped roofs. The center includes two 20th-century garage doors, while the left wing has a double plank door with an arched top opening, and the right wing features two wooden cross-windows. A clock face is present on the cross-gable, and there is a cupola with a wind vane at the ridge of the cross gable. The rear and left-hand return walls are made of flint panels with brick surrounds. The interior has only been partially inspected.
