Description
This is a pair of houses located at 1 and 3 Southern Road, dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of painted brick and feature an old plain-tile roof with a central brick ridge stack that has been raised with 20th-century brickwork. The houses are single storey with an attic and have a two-window range.
On the left side, there is a four-panel door with a segmental brick head, while the right side has a six-panel part-glazed door, also with a segmental brick head. The central section features two 20-pane unhorned sash windows, each with segmental brick heads above them. There are two hipped dormers; the left dormer contains a 20th-century casement window, and the right dormer has a two-light casement window. The interiors have not been inspected. These houses are included for their group value.
