WATLINGTON HIGH STREET SU6894 (North side) 6/180 No.20 (Watlington Memorial 18/07/63 Club) (Formerly listed as Y.M.C.A)

Shown on O.S. map as Nos.20 and 22 High Street. House, now social club. Mid C18, remodelled and rear ranges built in early C19. Colourwashed rendered walls; half-hipped old tile roof; stacks not visible. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys; 7-window range. Early C19 architrave with panelled reveals to 6-panelled door with decorative overlight. Segmental arches over 6-pane sashes and second-floor 3-pane sashes: blind windows flanking central bay over door. Moulded stone cornice. Two 2-storey early C19 ranges to rear of chalk rubble with brick quoins, and hipped Welsh slate roof. Interior: front hall has 6-panelled doors, early C19 cornice and round-arched entries to right and to rear hall, which has early C19 open-well stairs. Ground and first-floor rooms to front left have mid C18 panelling.
