Description

Brightwell Manor is a house with a front range dating from the mid-18th century and a rear wing likely built in the mid-17th century. The front range is constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings, featuring an old plain-tile hipped roof and various brick stacks. It has three storeys and a five-window front. A six-panel door is located at the centre, set within a round-arched recessed opening with a decorative fanlight above. The ground and first floors contain 12-pane unhorned sash windows with cambered brick heads. Red brick bands delineate the ground and first floors, and the first and second floors. The second floor also features 9-pane unhorned sashes with cambered brick heads. A mid-17th century cross-wing extends to the rear, displaying large timber framing with brick infill and an old plain-tile roof. The interior was not inspected but is thought to be of interest. The house sits on a moated site.
