Description

Middle Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, probably dating from the late 16th century with 20th-century alterations. The ground floor is finished in painted brick, with some timber framing on the right side. The first floor features angle-braced timber framing with painted brick infill, topped by a thatched roof and a brick stack on the left. The building is two stories high and has a two-window range that is set at right angles to the lane. The windows have irregular placements, with 2-light leaded casements, except for a 3-light leaded casement on the first floor to the right. There is a 20th-century door with a lean-to porch at the rear and 20th-century stairs inside. The roof construction is of queen post design. The ground floor has an open fireplace on the left with a painted frieze above, likely from the 17th century, and there is also an open fireplace on the first floor to the left. The ground floor features chamfered spine beams and joists with ogee end stops. To the left, there is a single-storey addition with a hipped thatched roof.
