Description
Abbey Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, with an extension from the 18th century. It features timber framing with herringbone brick infill and some flared headers, topped by an old plain-tile roof with brick ridge stacks. The building has a 2-unit lobby-entry plan and a rear wing, standing two storeys high. The front has two windows and a central six-panel door, which is framed by an architrave and a flat canopy supported by shaped brackets. This door is flanked by large three-light casements, with smaller three-light casements on the first floor. The left gable wall jetties on four curved brackets, and the roof has a central clustered stack. The hip-roofed rear wing on the left is built in two phases, featuring a storey band and a three-light leaded casement set under a segmental arch. The interior has not been inspected. Abbey Cottage may have been linked with No. 28, which is to the right.
