Description

This is a 16th-century inn, now a house, located on the west side of High Street, Dorchester. It is timber-framed with rendered infill and has an old plain-tile roof. The building was originally two units, though it was formerly part of a larger inn with the adjacent Number 59 (Bull Cottage). The front of the building has a jettied design with two storeys and a two-window arrangement. A large carriage entry is on the right, and a three-light mullioned and transomed casement window with panelled shutters is on the left. The first floor has two 12-pane sash windows. Curved braces are visible on the front. The interior was noted to contain contemporary panelling on both the ground and first floors, though it has not been recently inspected.
