Description
Bull Cottage is probably a 16th or 17th century house, later remodelled in the 18th century, and originally part of an inn. The walls are rendered with some exposed timber framing and brick infill, and have colourwashed rubble detailing. The roof is of old plain tiles, with brick stacks. The house has a two-unit plan, extended to the end and rear. The two-storey front has two 3-light casement windows on each floor, dating from the 20th century. A single-story rubble extension to the right has a similar window with panelled shutters. Light timber framing is visible on the right end wall and rear. The roof is hipped on the right side, with stacks on either flank. Internally, fragments of earlier timber framing and some heavy beams remain. It was formerly connected to number 57, to the left, as the Bull Inn, and may have originally had a gallery at the rear.
