Description

The causeway retaining wall, located approximately 400 meters west of Baldon House, dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of limestone ashlar. The eastern face of the causeway is supported by a stone wall designed as a triple-arched bridge. The arches, which feature projecting double-stepped keyblocks, vary in size and create recesses, with the central recess containing a small opening for water to flow through. The wall rises towards the center and curves outward at both ends, likely intended to serve as the head of a small lake.
