Description
Brook House is a house dating from the 16th century, with a raising in the 18th century and a cross-wing added in the 20th century. It features a cruck frame and is constructed of painted uncoursed stone rubble, with some brick on the ground floor, red brick on the first floor, and an old plain-tile roof. There are brick ridge stacks at both the left and right ends, with diagonally-set flues. The building is two stories high and has a two-window range. A plain door from the 20th century is located at the center, with a three-light wood casement window to the left of the door and another three-light wood casement window on the first floor to the left. To the right, there is a two-light wood casement window. Inside, there is a straight-flight staircase from the 20th century at the rear, a base cruck and truss in the center, and open fireplaces on the ground floor. The 20th-century cross-wing is not of special architectural interest.
