Description

Old Lane Cottage is likely an early 17th-century house, originally forming a cross-wing, with an early 18th-century addition to the left. A 20th-century addition exists to the right. The construction incorporates painted stone rubble at the base, timber framing with rendered infill on the left side, and timber framing with brick infill on the right. The roof is thatched, with a half-hipped section to the left and over the cross-wing, and a brick ridge stack positioned to the right of the centre. The house is a single-storey structure with an attic, comprising three bays, with the cross-wing extending to the right. A 20th-century stable door is located in the porch in the centre. There are 19th-century two-light wooden casement windows on the ground floor and in the gable end of the right cross-wing. The left return displays an irregular arrangement of windows. Inside, there is an open fireplace on the ground floor left, and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and joists on the ground floor left. A 20th-century addition is present to the right.
