Description
28 Cornmarket Street is a house and shop located on the south-west corner of Ship Street. It is likely from the 15th century but has been altered in the 17th century and later. The building is three stories tall and features timber framing with an overhang on the first and second floors, topped by a modern hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. The windows are modern casements, and there is a contemporary shop front at the ground floor on both the front and side. An original moulded bracket, which supports the second floor, remains exposed at the angle of the building. An exterior drawing of the building was made in 1840 by W. Turner. Major alterations were carried out in 1952 by Thomas Raysen.
